Best friends Algy and Jack have created false identities to get themselves out of unwelcome social situations.  Mayhem ensues when Algy assumes Jack’s alter ego, just as Jack falls in love with Algy’s cousin, much to the annoyance of the imperious Lady Bracknell, who disapproves of everything including Jack’s mysterious past.  Oscar Wilde, the era’s most scandalous writer, fills his masterpiece with witty dialogue and sharp satire of Victorian society’s foibles and hypocrisy.
