Original Playwrights

The WINNERS of Shawnee's 2010 Original Playwright's Contest are: 
Whimsical Grimm, by Stephen A. Williams 
Spanakopita, by Larry Rosler 
Ethereal Killers, by Zanne Hall 
A Night in the Toll Booth, by Tom Hudak 
These plays will receive fully-staged productions by Worthington Players in 2011. 
Thanks to all the talented original playwrights who shared their work. 
  
  
Playwrights are encouraged to submit their original works! 
Each year, Worthington Players will produce and perform the original work of an area playwright, chosen by our Executive Committee from among submissions received in an open contest. 
 
Original Play Submission Requirements 

 
Submissions are now being accepted for the 2011/2012 production. 
Deadline is January 31, 2011.   
 
Works must be original and unpublished. 
Submissions must be accompanied by a $15 submission fee and the Shawnee Playwrights Series Form available online

Shawnee places no limits on the genre, style, or length of plays submitted.
 
Production of Winning Play 

Responsibility for final production of the play lies solely with Worthington Players.  The director will be chosen by the Executive staff of the Shawnee Playhouse.  The director’s responsibilities include but are not limited to artistic vision, casting, staging, staffing, and technical design. 
The extent of the playwright’s involvement in the production is left to the discretion of the director.  No monetary prize or compensation is paid.
